Project Description
Both Paul and Niall were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition working alongside course architect Clive Clark to achieve planning consent and then managing and coordinating the build of the project. Construction began in May 2018 and the main contractors, (Landscapes Unlimited,) completed the build in November of the same year. It was an incredible team effort from all involved in the construction process to create this stunning course in such a short space of time.
Whilst the sandy ground conditions provided ideal conditions to create a links golf course the virgin landscape was devoid of topography after years of agricultural farming. Thus, considerable imagination and endeavour was required to create this course. In 2019 the golf course was given time to fully grow in under the watchful eye of golf operators OB Sports and course superintendent, Grahame Taylor. The eagerly anticipated opening of the golf course was on the 29th of May 2020 after a short delay due to Covid – 19.
Although the global pandemic has, thus far, prevented most of the North American market from visiting Scotland Dumbarnie Links still enjoyed a sensational first summer of operation which culminated in the course being awarded the prestigious “Development of the Year” by Golf Inc. magazine for 2021.
This course is truly a wonderful addition to the Fife golfing coastline. Dumbarnie Links is sure to be added to the itineraries of many a visiting golfer in the years to come and we are proud to have been involved and associated with the project.
